How to knit: Right Twist Stitch
The Right Twist Stitch is a simple knitting technique that creates a twisted look in your fabric, resembling small cables without the need for a cable needle. Here’s how to do it:
Right Twist Stitch Instructions (for knitting flat)
1. Knit 2 stitches together but do not slip them off the left needle. This is similar to making a k2tog, but keeping the stitches on the left needle:
- Insert your right needle into the second stitch on your left needle knitwise and continue through the first stitch.
- Wrap your yarn around the right needle.
- Pull the yarn through both stitches. Do not slip the stitches from the left needle!
2. Knit the first stitch:
- Insert the right needle into the first stitch knitwise.
- Wrap the yarn around the left needle.
- Pull the yarn through the stitch.
3. Slip both stitches off the left needle.
You have now created a right twist!
By mastering the Right Twist Stitch, you not only enrich your knitting but also expand your skills. Every new technique you learn adds confidence and inspiration to try new projects.
